About CountryClue

CountryClue is a free daily flag quiz: you get six tries to name the country behind a pixelated flag, and every wrong guess reveals one more clue. No account, no ads, no tracking beyond anonymous traffic statistics.

Where the data comes from

Country names, capitals, populations and land areas on this site come from Wikidata, which aggregates national statistical offices and the UN. Flag images are published by FlagCDN and are in the public domain; they are served from this domain so the pages work without third-party requests.

Colour values are the shades used to render the flags in the game. Official specifications sometimes give Pantone or CMYK values instead — where a country publishes an exact standard, the HEX shown here is the closest sRGB equivalent, not a legal specification.

How the game works

Every day at midnight UTC one flag becomes the Daily Flag — the same country for everyone. Three practice modes sit alongside it: Easy (about 60 well-known countries), Medium (all 196) and Hard (heavy pixelation, no continent hint). You can type the country name in any of 15 languages.

Found a wrong capital, a stale population figure or a flag that does not match the current official design? Write to us — see contact. Corrections are applied to every language version at once.
